Penny Alexander will be present on Monday the 30th of Brinnington Arts Festival for a one-day interactive Artist in Residence Installation. Visitors at the festival will be encouraged to contribute their opinions about what they ‘Love about Brinnington’. Penny will be using her vintage typewriter to type the Brinnington notes into Alice In Wonderland inspired glass bottles, which will form an exciting installation to share the voice of the people of Brinnington.
Penny is a conceptual artist inspired by words, language, communication and personal journeys. The typewriter is her main artistic tool, which she uses to create prints, maps, encoded music, projections and films. She is a Stockport based artist and currently volunteers at ARC in Reddish which she does alongside her studio practice.
Penny Alexander will also be facilitating two other workshops during Brinnington Arts Festival:
Tuesday’s Cheshire Cat Mask Making Workshop at First House and Friday’s Feathery Flamingo Mask Making Workshop at the park. More examples of her work can be seen at her website: pennyalexander.wix.com/artist and facebook page http://www.facebook.com/PennyAlexanderVisArts.
